THE first metro line in Guiyang, the capital of China’s southwestern Guizhou province, began carrying passengers on December 28 with the start of trial operation on the initial phase of Line 1.

The 12.8km east-west line from Xiamaixi to Guiyang North Station serves 10 stations.

Services are operated by a fleet of 34 six-car type B trains supplied by CRRC Nanjing Puzhen.

The section south from North Station to Xiaomeng is due to open in the second half of 2018 and a second line is also under construction.
