Nizhny Novgorod orders Metrowagonmash metro cars

TRANSMASHHOLDING subsidiary Metrowagonmash and Sberbank leasing have signed a Roubles 1.3bn contract with Nizhny Novgorod Metro for 23 type 81-717/6/714.6 metro cars, which will support the expansion of the urban rail network in the Russian city.

The order comprises 10 driving cars and 13 intermediate vehicles, which will be delivered by the end of this year.

The northern extension of Nizhny Novgorod’s Sormovskaya Line to Strelka is due to open in time for the Fifa World Cup, which Russia will host next summer, and the city is also planning a further extension north to Volga.
