NORWAY’s infrastructure manager Bane Nor has awarded a NKr 600m ($US 78m) contract to Thales to install a national traffic management system (TMS) as part of the roll out of ERTMS across most of the network by 2034.

The new TMS system, which will replace three existing systems, will be based on Thalys’ Aramis TMS which has been enhanced to provide cyber security and a cloud-ready platform.

The project will be implemented during the next 17 years, and the contract includes support, maintenance and cyber security services.

The objective is to improve train punctuality and reliability.

Bane Nor plans to award two more major contracts for the resignalling programme in the spring.
