RAIL.ONE has inaugurated a new concrete sleeper plant at Aschaffenburg in Bavaria, which will have capacity to supply up to 600,000 sleepers a year, primarily for customers in Germany.

The 35,000m2 facility will produce up to 3500 sleepers a day in a three-shift operation and has storage capacity for 120,000 sleepers. The site has two unit train loading sidings, each capable of accommodating 20-22 wagon trains.

More than 50 staff will be employed in production and administration at the factory, which supplements Rail. One’s other German facilities at Coswig (Saxony), Kirchmöser (Brandenburg), and Neumarkt (Bavaria).
